Pet Portrait FAQ’s

Some faq’s about commissioning a portrait

How much does a pet portrait commission cost?

All of my pet portraits are original works of art; one of a kind. Prices start at $100 for a mini-portrait (5×5 or 6×6 inch) and up to $250 for a 12″x12″ painting. I am not accepting large commissions at this time.

What is the deadline to reserve a pet portrait commission?

The deadline for reserving a pet portrait commission is Wednesday, January 23rd at midnight MST, so be sure to sign up now!!

Are there still any spots left for the free shipping if I reserve my spot now, or did I miss it?

I’m extending the free shipping offer to the first three to reserved spots this Monday morning.

I really like your note card sets, can I still order the note cards as a part of my pet commission?

Yes, when you reserve your pet commission before the deadline on Wednesday, January 23rd, at midnight MST, I will offer you a 50% discount on your order of custom matching notecards. So, jump on this because the discounted notecards are a limited time offer.

What is the timeline for the commission process? When will I receive the pet portrait?

The reservation period closes on Wednesday, January 23rd so I can have time to contact you about your order. Once I have all of the information, deposits and photos needed, I will start painting right away. The portraits will be ready to ship by February 7th. You should receive them within 5 business days. I always ship Priority Mail.

Is there a guarantee, in case it’s not what I was expecting?

Because each pet portrait commission is hand painted by me, in my own artistic style, I encourage you to look at my portfolio of other mini pet portraits before making the decision to commission a piece. I will work with you to decide on the pose and to understand the personality of the pet I am painting. If you are not satisfied when you receive your painting, just return it to me in the same condition you received it and I will refund 100% of the commission price (I do not refund shipping costs).

What if there isn’t time for me to re-ship the gift to its final destination?

I can ship your commissioned pet portrait directly to its destination anywhere in the U.S.  If you would like it gift wrapped, I can do this for you as well, for free.

What if I have no idea how a commissioned pet portrait works? What do I need to get started?

All you need are a couple of well-lit photos of the pet you’d like to have painted. Additional information such as breed type, coloring, size and age are also helpful but not necessary. I request a 50% down payment at the time of reserving the commission. Full payment is due after you receive your painting.

What if I’m not tech savvy enough to send you a digital file and I only have  printed photos of the pet?

Not a problem! You can mail the photos to me and I will scan them and mail them back to you, and email you the digital photo.

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, PayPal and credit cards.

I don’t know anything about original paintings. How durable will this painting be?

The mini pet paintings are painted in acrylic paints on a canvas board. This is a rigid board and is durable enough to be dropped and handled. It takes a lot of force to bend it or break it. I also varnish (coat) the painting so it keeps it’s lustre and colorful beauty for years to come. I include information about how to care for the painting when I ship, but the important thing to remember is to keep it out of direct sunlight so it won’t yellow or fade.

How can this painting be displayed? Is there a frame?

I ship all mini paintings with a tiny wooden display easel. The painting sits nicely on this easel on any desk or table. If you would like to hang the painting, I also offer some framing options at an additional fee.

To reserve your spot, please complete the form below and I will be in touch with you about the details of your portrait!
